Installation manual for HOWO self loader truck

Sep 11, 2023

Self loader trucks, also known as self-loading trucks or self-loading lorries, are special vehicles designed for transporting large mechanical equipment, excavators, harvesters, etc. These trucks are equipped with hydraulic systems that allow operators to load, transport and unload various types of equipment or vehicles without the need for additional lifting equipment or assistance.

HOWO flatbed truck

Self-loaders consist of the following key structural components: flatbed, hydraulic system, rear ladder, control valve. According to the actual needs of customers, outriggers, crane, winch, hydraulic folding ladders, extendable flatbed, etc. can also be optionally installed.

As a professional manufacuter of self loader trucks, CS TRUCKS provides customers with reliable and durable flatbed transport trucks, and also customize the upper body and SKD/CKD according to customer needs. This article mainly introduces the accessories list and installation instructions of the flatbed transport truck.

Self-loader Kits Installation Manual

This manual provides installation guidance for the installation of self-loader kits, including hydraulic system, outriggers, rear ladders, side guards, mudguards, etc. Before installing the slef-loader kits, please read this installation manual carefully.

Friendly reminder: For all parts that need to be welded, please spot weld first, and then perform full welding after determining the appropriate installation position.

Φ25 hose 10 meters (used to connect hydraulic oil tank and gear pump)

Φ19 hose 20 meters (used to connect return port of the control vale and oil tank)

M27 hose 3.5 meters×3 pcs (used to connect the inlet port of the gear pump and control valve)

M18 hose 2.5 meters×6 pcs (for winch, 2 pcs/winch)

M18 hose 2.5 meters×12 pcs (for outriggers, 4 pcs/outrigger)

M18 hose 8 meters×4 pcs (for rear ladder of the 5.5T chassis)

M18 hose 10 meters×4 pcs (for rear ladder of the 8.5T chassis)

M18 hose 12 meters×4 pcs (for rear ladder of the 10T chassis)

M26 hose 3 pcs (for switch valve)

M22 hose 3 pcs (for switch valve)

3) Hydraulic hose connection

It is recommended to reasonably arrange the installation position of each hydraulic component according to the length of the hydraulic hose in the above list.

2. Front outriggers installation

The recommended installation position of the front outrigger is 100mm in front of the flatbed, installed on the beam of the chassis, and fixed with U-shaped bolts.

3. Rear ladder installation

1) Weld the rear ladder to the steel plate at the rear of the flatbed with the support seats

2) Weld the cylinder of the rear ladder

The installation position of the cylinder needs to be determined according to the actual height of the chassis. There is one section of square tubing is not fully welded, just spot welded. This is to facilitate adjustment and determine the final installation position of the cylinder. Weld the upper mounting seat of the cylinder on this square tubing. The lower seat of the cylinder is welded on the rear part of the flatbed. Fully extend the piston rod of the cylinder (the stroke is 500mm), determine the welding position of the lower seat. The final installation position of the cylinder is: when the ladder is raised, the piston rod of the cylinder is fully extended, and when the ladder lays down, the piston rod stroke is fully retracted.

3) Weld the support leg of the rear ladder

The support leg needs be welded under the rear part of the flatbed. There is a chain on the support leg. One end of the chain is put in the T-slot, another end is welded on the beam of the flatbed.

4) Weld small support leg on the rear ladder

The small support legs have been spot welded on the ladders. After the ladder is installed, lower down it to find out the final welding position of the small leg. The plate on the bottom of the small support legs should fully touch the ground. After the position is determined, make the small support leg be fully welded.

5) Weld the chain to the rear ladder and flatbed

Connect one end of the chain to a bent steel plate in the middle of the ladder with a shackle. Another end is weld to the side of the platform.

6) Weld the turnbuckles

Each side of a self-loader needs to be installed with two turnbuckle. 4 turnbuckles in total for one self-loader truck. Cut buckles from a chain and weld them on the rear ladder. One turnbukcle is installed on the two sections of the ladder. The other is installed on ladder and the faltbed. See below pictures:

4. Winch installation

1) Winch mounting

The winch can be installed by installing channel steel or on a solid part in the front of the truck, but it must be ensured that the motor in the winch, the drum and the reduction gear are on the same level. Make sure the winch is fixed firmly.

2) Hydraulic hose connection

The winch uses the on-board hydraulic system, and the motor of the winch is connected to the on-board hydraulic system with two hydraulic hoses, and the connections are guaranteed to be tightened to prevent oil leakage. All hoses should be avoided to be installed in high temperature areas, such as exhaust ports or engine areas, and friction between hoses should be avoided. There can be a 90° turn in the connection with the directional valve, motor or balance valve to avoid bending of the hose.
