Water ring vacuum pump working principle

The working principle of a water ring vacuum pump is based on the liquid ring seal formed between the water ring and the impeller. Its working process is mainly divided into the following steps:
1. Startup: First, inject a certain amount of liquid (usually water) into the vacuum pump casing, and ensure that the liquid level just covers the lower part of the impeller.
2. Suction: When the vacuum pump is started, the impeller starts to rotate at high speed. Due to the centrifugal force of the impeller, the liquid forms a liquid ring under the influence of the impeller, which is in close contact with but not in contact with the impeller.
3. Compression: As the impeller rotates, the gas or liquid within the grooved area of the impeller is drawn into the liquid ring. As the impeller continues to rotate, the gas or liquid is compressed by the liquid ring.
4. Discharge: When the impeller rotates to the highest point, the liquid ring pushes the gas or liquid to the outlet pipe to complete the discharge process.
5. Cooling and sealing: The water ring not only acts as a seal, but also cools the impeller and reduces friction. At the same time, the water ring also reduces the temperature inside the pump to prevent overheating.
