The European standard tank mouth is installed on the top of the tank truck. It is a functional part of the oil tank for loading, unloading and ventilation. It is equipped with a breathing valve and an emergency exhaust valve to ensure the safety of the tanker in an emergency.
Normally, the breathing valve is closed. But when refueling, unloading and temperature changes, the pressure in the tank also changes. At this time, the breather valve is automatically opened to keep the tank pressure within the specified pressure through exhaust/suction.
When an emergency such as a fire occurs, the emergency exhaust valve opens to automatically release the internal pressure of the oil tank to avoid explosion.

There are three main materials used in the manufacture of fuel tanks: carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum alloy.Each material has its own advantages and disadvantages.
1. Carbon steel
Due to its availability and cost-effectiveness, carbon steel is widely used in fuel tanker manufacturing.Compared with stainless steel and aluminum alloy, carbon steel is relatively cheap, which can reduce the production cost of tank trucks.Carbon steel can withstand heavy loads and has excellent resistance to impact and mechanical stress. Carbon steel tanks can be used to store various types of fuel, including gasoline, diesel, oil and aviation fuel.
The disadvantages of carbon steel tanks are:Carbon steel storage tanks are prone to rust and require additional coatings or linings to prevent corrosion from harsh environments and corrosive fuels.Carbon steel is heavier than stainless steel and aluminum alloys, resulting in increased fuel consumption and reduced payload capacity.
2. Stainless steel
Stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance and is suitable for long-term storage and transportation of fuel. Tanks made of stainless steel offer exceptional strength and durability for extended life and reduced maintenance requirements. Stainless, non-porous and easy to clean, making it suitable for transporting a variety of fuels, including hazardous liquids.
The disadvantages of stainless steel tanks are: Stainless steel tanks are more expensive compared to carbon steel.Stainless steel is heavier than aluminum, which affects the truck's weight and fuel consumption.
3. Aluminum Alloy
The aluminum alloy fuel tank provides light weight, improves fuel efficiency and increases the truck's payload capacity. Aluminum alloy oil tanks have excellent corrosion resistance and require no coating or lining. In additional, aluminum alloy oil tanks offer exceptional durability, long life and minimal maintenance requirements.
Aluminum alloy oil tanks can be more expensive compared to carbon steel tanks. In addition, aluminum alloys have low insulating properties, requiring additional insulation if used to transport temperature-sensitive fuels.
