What to do When The Fire Pump Cannot Self-prime Water

Dec 16, 2023

As we all know, the fire pump is the core component of the fire truck. Once the fire pump fails, it will not be able to provide the fire truck with the water volume and water pressure required to extinguish the fire. Rescue and rescue operations may not be carried out at the best time, which will eventually cause some unnecessary losses . Therefore, when any failure of the fire pump occurs, it must be solved in time. Today I will explain to you, how to solve the problem when the fire pump cannot absorb water by itself?

First, let's analyze the possible reasons why the fire pump on the fire truck cannot absorb water by itself. There are several reasons for this:

1. Inhalation height is too high

2. The vacuum pump is not working

3. Pipe valve leaking

After understanding the possible causes, but still unable to determine which cause, you can perform the following troubleshooting methods:

1. Reduce the height of the suction pipe. The height of the suction pipe cannot be higher than the height of the pump's water pipe.

2. Check whether the power supply of the electromagnetic clutch is normal. Remove the power cord at one end of the electromagnetic clutch and use a test tool to check whether there is power. During operation, observe whether there is air discharged from the water outlet of the vacuum pump.

3. First, manually turn the water diversion pump to see if it can rotate 360 degrees. If it cannot rotate, the vacuum pump is stuck. Remove the end caps on both sides of the vacuum pump and rotate the water pump drive shaft back and forth to make it operate normally. If the water diversion pump rotates normally and the vehicle does not start, turn on the additional power supply, press the water pump water diversion control switch, and determine whether there is a suction sound from the electromagnetic clutch. If it is normal, rotate the water pump to determine whether the V-belt is slipping.

4. Check whether all valves are closed and whether there is air leakage at the connections.
